BEIJING, CHINA  As iconic buildings go, few can match the futuristic grandeur of the National Grand Theatre in Beijing. Completed in 2007, this titanium-accented glass dome The Egg, as it has come to be known colloquially  nestles into a man-made lake, giving the impression of a huge floating structure so striking that it truly must be seen to be believed.

Fittingly, the interior of this unique structure also displays the uncompromising aspirations of the designers. Wood, glass and stone combine to stunning effect. Recently many of Beijings public buildings  such as The Egg  have been equipping themselves accordingly to deliver the sonic experience audiences expect from these state-of-the-art facilities, which is why increasingly the sound you hear will be courtesy of Solid State Logics Duality console.

Over the last few months SSL Duality consoles have been installed in the National Grand Theatre, the National Academy for Chinese Theatre Arts and the National Digital Cinema Production Base.
Anthony Gofton, SSLs sales manager for South East Asia, commented: That Beijing has warmed to the sound of SSL is no coincidence. Within the building are three large performing halls: the Opera Hall, the Theatre Hall and the Music Hall. Duality is installed beneath the Music Hall that is being used to record and mix concerts from the performing area, as well as the large live space next to the control room.

National Academy for Chinese Theatre Arts, Beijing.
There is a Duality installed next to a live performing studio for the students to be recorded in their coursework, as well as for teaching studio and recording techniques to the media students.

National Digital Cinema Production Base, Huairou Nr Beijing
The Chinese film industry has been the recipient of some significant Government investment. Just outside of the city of Beijing, a huge new film lot has been built, with sound stages, shooting lots and post-production facilities at a cost of about $293 million. Within the complex is a new studio for scoring film music, which now has a 72-channel Duality.
